According to John Locke, 17th century words, are used to encode and convey thoughts or ideas. it means semantics is the meanings or relationship of meaning of sign or set of sign. so, communication will succesful if the idea associated with it in the meaning and how the people who knows and understand that expression.

Can u explain the purpose of semantics in life?
BalasHapusthe purpose from Locke thought that when we are perceive an object, our mind forms an idea of that object. Our thought consists of a series of ideas. Words have meanings because they stand for ideas. If your words do not stand for ideas, then they do not really mean anything.
